New smart LEDs stir local professional lighting market

During an event dedicated to clients and partners recently held in HCMC, Philips launched a new range of smart LED lighting products, further cementing its position as the leading brand in LED lighting technology and new applications.

The new generation of lighting products, controllers and applications came out in sophisticated designs coupled with smart features, making an impressive introduction to the Vietnamese market. Of which, much attention was drawn to meaningful innovations on a number of the company’s flagship products, including the GreenPerform Batten and the LED Highbay GreenPerform Gen3 for industrial lighting; the superior ArenaVision LED floodlight for sport and area lighting; the two elegant recessed luminaires Smart Panel 2.0 and PowerBalance featuring smart connecting and versatile controlling capabilities for office lighting; the sophisticated LED GreenPerform Trunking for shopping malls, and the two high-end LED street lights RoadFlair and GreenVision Xceed combined with CityTouch connect application, a simple software that can help cities manage their street lights and analyze lighting data easily to heighten safety and improve operational efficiency.

Introducing meaningful innovations for sport and area lighting

CityTouch - the best product of 2015 at the HEA Awards is a breakthrough in the connected LED lighting technology and a foundation solution for smart cities. When being combined with smart LED street lights, CityTouch allows operators to carry out lighting management tasks right on the screen of a PC or a hand phone such as checking online the energy consumption of each light pot, identifying which one needs repair, setting on/off schedules and dimming levels on demand... This sophisticated solution has been deployed in more than 250 cities in 31 countries around the world, and now arrived in the most dynamic LED lighting market in ASEAN.

According to Mr. Eric Benedetti, General Director of Philips Lighting Vietnam, the 2016 product portfolio sets new standards to the professional lighting segment in terms of efficiency, lifetime and energy saving capability. A good example would be the LED Highbay GreenPerform Gen3 model, which is designed for high-ceiling factories and warehouses. This highly efficient luminaire delivers light source up to 129 lumens per watt, which is much higher than the level of 90 lumens per watt commonly found in conventional highbays. Apart from 50% energy saving, additional energy savings can be gained when it is used with intelligent controls like ZigBee wireless communication and ActiLume Wireless sensor. Design of the new product generation has been significantly improved to deliver maximized flexibility for installation and replacement while ensure comfortable experiences for both operators and end users.

The scale of the LED lighting market is growing steadily, according to 2016 Global LED Lighting Market Trends Report by LEDinside, a division of TrendForce. LEDinside estimates that global sales of LED lighting will reach US$30.5 billion in 2016, accounting for 36% of the total lighting sales. Among the major Southeast Asian Nations, Vietnam achieved the rapidest growth in LED lighting market share, maintaining year-on-year increase of more than 60% during 2013-2015. Demand growth for LED lighting products has been particularly strong in the industrial area where many big names have already switched to LED lighting such as Coca Cola, Number One Ha Nam, Robert Bosch Vietnam, Fuji Xerox Hai Phong…

To remain its leadership in the LED lighting industry, Philips is focusing on smart solutions, systems and services. “We are making use of our expertise and experience gained through more than 125 years and leveraging the Internet of Things to develop new lighting solutions with smarter and better connected features that can bring more values beyond illumination to our clients and  partners in various fields”, says Mr. Eric Benedetti.
